Observing my upside down America

About

America under attack

It is clear the original principles and ideals of America are under attack from multiple enemies, mostly from the outside, such as Al Queda, Islamic Fascists, European Socialists among others.

Sometimes her enemies come from within.  There are representatives and senators in our government who do not believe in the basic sovereignty of America and do not believe in the importance of securing her borders.  There are others who adopt socialist / Marxist lines of thinking such as Representative Maxine Waters (D-Ca), who believes in nationalizing certain sectors of the U.S. economy. These are the same policies embraced by Venezuela’s dictator, Hugo Chavez.

There are indigenous organizations such as the A.C.L.U. and there are foreign special interest groups such as C.A.I.R. who are allowed to set up camp in our country.  C.A.I.R. present themselves as an organization designed to advance the understanding of Islam, promote justice and to empower American Muslims.  A little investigation will indicate a more sinister side to this seemingly innocuous organization.  If your long term vision of America is one that includes the establishment Sharia Law, then this organization is for you.

Dismantling of America’s belief systems

In my lifetime, I have seen the Supreme Court rule on cases which run counter to the principles of this country’s founders. Ignoring the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, I have seen municipal laws passed preventing citizens from owning handguns.

I have read about Supreme Court upholding laws of eminent domain to transfer private property to private developers for the sole purpose of increasing municipal revenues.

I have witnessed the slow dismantling of the principles and ideals which distinguish America from the rest in the world. These are the same principles which attract immigrants from other countries seeking citizenship.

If this trend continues these principles and ideals will be forever gone and America will become unremarkable compared to other countries in the world. Indeed, the United States will become irrelevant.

Obama’s “Unprecedented” spending

During the first 100 days of his presidency, Obama signed a $787 billion stimulus bill into law, proposed an eye-popping $3.6 trillion budget for the 2010 fiscal year, taken over a massive $700 billion Wall Street bailout program and created other billion-dollar programs to help grease the economic wheels.

I have seen $180 billion given to insurance company AIG, stating they are simply too big to fail.  Instead of following an austere policy to use the money wisely to help chart a course of recovery, the executives of AIG send themselves to luxurious spas and golf outings and give themselves bonuses from the millions of tax-payer dollars given to them.  The public is outraged after the disclosure of the bonuses paid by AIG. In response the House of Representatives passed a bill that would impose a 90 percent retroactive tax on those bonuses.  Thankfully the bill failed.  In March of 2009 eleven of the individuals who received “retention” bonuses of $1 million dollars or more have resigned, including 1 executive who received $4.6 million.  These bonuses made more than 73 millionaires of executives who work in AIG.  In a feeble attempt to justify this insanity, government-appointed AIG boss Edward Liddy told  Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that the bonuses were necessary to retain “the best and the brightest talent” – the same bright talent that lost so much money it brought the company to bankruptcy forcing the taxpayer bailout.   In the end, the U.S. government managed to end up owning nearly 80 percent interest in the firm.

Not stopping there, the United States government, lead by Mr. Obama, has given over 70 billion dollars to General Motors and Chrysler serving only to delay an inevitable bankruptcy.  Before the eyes of a disbelieving public the leaders of these firms are asking for more.  In response, Mr. Obama acts quickly and forces the resignation of Rick Wagner, the longtime head of General Motors.  General Motors is expected to soon file for bankruptcy while the Feds force Chrysler to accept a merger with Italy’s Fiat.  At the end of the day Mr. Obama has potentially saved the labor union’s contract – almost the largest single reason GM and Chrylser failed to be a viable company in the first place.  The heads of these labor unions remain in their offices.

Left wing extremists with socialist tendancies

While we witness the slow dismantling of America’s insurance and manufacturing base, we look back with a wary eye to Representative Maxine Waters, D-California, and to her comment of  May 2008 when she states to Shell Oil president John Hofmeister of her desire to nationalize America’s oil companies.  Waters challenging the president of Shell Oil, John Hofmeister, to guarantee the prices consumers pay will go down if the oil companies are allowed to drill wherever they want off of U.S. shores. Hofmeister replied: “I can guarantee to the American people, because of the inaction of the United States Congress, ever-increasing prices unless the demand comes down.” The Shell exec said paying $5 at the pump “will look like a very low price in the years to come if we are prohibited from finding new reserves, new opportunities to increase supplies.” Waters responded, in part, “And guess what this liberal would be all about. This liberal will be about socializing … uh, um. …”  (The congresswoman paused and sputtered to collect her thoughts.)  “Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies. …” The oil executives responded, according to Fox News, by saying they’ve seen this before, in Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela.

Taking lessons learned by watching our government give money to failing industry and force policies upon them, the sincerity of Maxine Waters demands serious attention.  Once viewed as unlikely if not impossible, the gas in the tank of my new government designed car could come from soon-to-be nationalized oil companies (overseen by Maxine Waters).  I imagine I can then only drive the car to government approved locations within a government defined radius. California wants to pass a bill to outlaw black for cars essentially governing the color of every automobile sold in the state. In addition, the talk show I listen to on its radio shall not broadcast Rush or AM700 (yes, the whole station) as defined by “The Fairness Doctrine”.

Disrespect for our Constitution – First Amendment under attack

On February 4, 2009, Senator Debbie Stabenow (Democrat of Michigan) told radio host and WorldNetDaily columnist Bill Press, when asked whether it was time to bring back the Doctrine, “I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else – I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves.” When Press asked if she would seek Senate hearings on such accountability in 2009, she replied, “I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep.”

On the evening of April 14, 2009, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill police released pepper spray and threatened to use a Taser on student protesters when a crowd disrupted a speech by former Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo opposing in-state tuition benefits to unauthorized immigrants.

Hundreds of protesters converged on Bingham Hall, shouting profanities and accusations of racism while Tancredo and the student who introduced him tried to speak. Minutes into the speech, a protester pounded a window of the classroom until the glass shattered, prompting Tancredo to flee and campus police to shut down the event.

Tancredo was brought to campus by a UNC chapter of Youth for Western Civilization, a national organization of students who oppose mass immigration, multiculturalism and affirmative action.

Where are we going?

If America is to survive as we know it she can no longer be led as she has. The time for change is long overdue. However, change must not come from the likes of Barack Obama. This is a man whose thinking has been molded by foreign students, Marxist professors and his minister, the racist Rev. Wright. This is a man who launched his political career from the living room of a man who participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and The Pentagon in 1972.
